Reasons Why ‘The X Factor’ Is Ending after 17 years

Finally after 17 years X Factor has decided to throw in the towel. This move has created online mixed reaction. Some people argued that it will create a vacuum void where many young talented artists will now go unnoticed. However, critics argue that the show was brutal and inhumane. Some people would also disagree with this view.

What is interesting is that: globally it is still a phenomenon attracting millions of viewers to this day. But how long this popularity goes for before closing the curtains?

Despite the critics, many people like:

1. One Direction (Net Worth $150 Million)
2. 2 Little Mix (Net Worth $32 Million) …
3. 3 JLS (Net Worth $24 Million) …
4. 4 Leona Lewis (Net Worth $10 Million) …
5. 5 Alexandra Burke (Net Worth $8 Million) …
6. 6 Olly Murs (Net Worth $6 Million)

These people would never have been discovered was it not for the X Factor. But Simon Cowell is a shrewd business man. He also knows when market value of a concept begins to fade or lose interest. And this happened because there were rumors that the show was scripted and fixed! He knew it was game over.  Too many people were voting with their feet and choosing to switch off.

In the book ‘An Essential Guide for Serious Singers and Musicians’

The writer goes into detail as to how television format like X Factor rigs public voting, and why certain genre of music never make the cut.

The music industry is brutal and colorful, and it is all about image and sex appeal. The music come second place. X Factor, was appealing to and for a certain younger audience where rock musicians and other styles were ignored. If X factor had expanded the music genre it could have survived many more years… It was an interesting experiment but it could be said that it was biased.

But having said that, what made the show so popular during its day was because everyone believed that they stood a fair chance of becoming famous. Despite X Factor finally closing their door does not mean that you can’t be discovered. You just have to be resourceful and clever.
