Why Doctors Now Say holistic Singing Is Good 4 Mental Health Depression Anxiety

(Online Holistic Singing Lessons Also Available)

Many years ago, when we were feeling low and depressed, we were encouraged to take antidepressant by our doctors. It didn’t matter what the trigger points were as to the reasons why we were feeling this way; the antidepressants were the answer.

David, a student mine, (please read his testimonial) was suffering from deep depression after his marriage collapsed.  His caring doctor, could have prescribed him pills, but, told him to start a new hobby; singing lessons.

David, at first thought it was a stupid idea. However, he gave it a go.  He had nothing to lose but to gain.  His first session was learning how to breathe correctly. My ability to put him at ease within seconds, and the holistic singing sessions began to create the right endorphins that would create a sense of happiness while subduing David’s depression.

But why does singing Helps with Mental Health

We first need to understand the physiological process of singing and why it creates in us a happy fix of endorphins.  There is more to singing that just opening our mouths. The sweet science behind is amazing!  These are the reasons why singing is good for our health:

  • Relieves stress. Singing appears to be a stress-reliever. …
  • Stimulates the immune response. …
  • Increases pain threshold. …
  • May improve snoring. …
  • Improves lung function. …
  • Develops a sense of belonging and connection. …
  • Enhances memory in people with dementia. …
  • Helps with grief.

It gets even better, because, Scientists say that singing can have a calming but energizing effect on people. … According to information published in Time magazine, singing may release endorphins associated with feelings of pleasure as well as stimulate the release of oxytocin, a hormone that is found to alleviate anxiety and stress.

Hence, it does exactly what the antidepressants do, but, on a much healthier level!  Here is why singing is also one of the best hobbies that you need to consider taking up?

  1. You learn new songs
